Hockey's BACK!

Well, it never really left, did it? But, the Campbell men's maturing Saturday-night tradition is back! Our beloved Leafs lost to those darned Habs, but it was fun to check out the new rules and nice to be back in the chair again.

It started during the 1976-77 season: my paternal grandfather moved in with us and I started watching Hockey Night in Canada (as much of it as I could get away with: usually the first period and the Peter Puck segment) with him every Saturday night. He was a Montreal fan (Guy Lafleur in particular) and I picked up a love of the game from him. We only had two seasons before he got sick, but hockey with Grampa was a very important part of my week. So much so, that Phil and I started watching the games partway through the 2003-04 season. Once he learned who to cheer for, all was good. :-)

Then, the lockout hit. Now, more than a year later, we're finally back on track and judging by last night's game, it's back on track with the rules changes. I'm still not sure about the penalty for knocking the puck over the glass (even if it's accidental), but the rest of it has sped things up a heck of a lot. Yow!
